One interesting thing I discovered throughout the course of the Steam sale this summer is the growing number of shmups they are selling. At the time I reviewed Crimson Clover (about a year ago), there was a handful of titles, but now a quick search of the "Shoot'em Up" tag reveals 157 games and there are probably more out there. There seems to be a mix of knock-offs, doujin-level releases, and then the heavy-hitters like the aforementioned Crimson Clover and Raiden. I personally hope this momentum continues so that Cave releases a PC anthology, which I think would be a massive seller.
